WHAT IS A DOOR HOLDER?
We use the term "Door Holder" as a synonym for "volunteer." The term is borrowed from Psalm 84:10, which speaks of being a door keeper in the house of God. Door Holders at Passion conferences are individuals who have experienced God’s glory but want to hold the doors to allow others to come in. This is the heartbeat we want our volunteers to assume – one of service and preparing the way for others to have a powerful experience with Jesus. All volunteers are considered Door Holders – not just those on our Touch team who literally hold physical doors. It is a broader term to encompass all who serve at a Passion gathering.
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER TO HELP AT PASSION 2013?
You may apply to volunteer if you are at least 26 years old. In order to make the gathering possible, we will need thousands of Door Holders who are willing to serve throughout the entire conference in various roles. Note that those younger than 26 may apply to serve for load-in and load-out.
CAN COLLEGE STUDENTS VOLUNTEER?
We want students to be able to fully experience the conference. Door Holders work hard behind the scenes throughout the entire gathering, serving the students who are participating. While college students cannot serve during the offical days of Passion 2013, they are welcome to serve during load-in and load-out.
WHAT IS THE APPICATION PROCESS FOR VOLUNTEERING AT PASSION 2013?
The volunteer application is closed at this time. If you have questions about your volunteer assignment, please let us know by completing the form on the CONTACT page of the Passion 2013 website.
DO DOOR HOLDERS NEED TO PURCHASE A TICKET?
There is no fee to volunteer, but Door Holders are responsible for their own travel expenses and meals, with the exception of lunch on January 1, 2 and 3 and dinner on January 1. These meals will be provided for Door Holders.
WHAT IF I AM ACCEPTED TO VOLUNTEER, BUT THEN UNABLE TO ATTEND?
If you apply and then find out that you cannot serve, please contact us no later than December 1 so that we can fill your position. We ask for this time frame so that we can avoid turning away others who are able to volunteer. No-shows create significant challenges for our volunteer Team Leads, so the most advanced notice we can have, the better. We realize that last minute emergencies sometimes arise and alter your availability to serve.
WHERE SHOULD I STAY?
We encourage Door Holders to stay in downtown Atlanta due to the long hours and potentially late nights. We recommend that you make hotel reservations now. Note that there is a mandatory Door Holder meeting on December 31 at 7pm. We ask that you make every effort to attend. If you absolutely cannot, we will have a second meeting on January 1 at 9:30am. Please factor this into your travel and lodging plans. We have negotiated discounted rates for Passion Door Holders in downtown hotels, which are listed in the automated response you will receive within 24 hours of submitting your application. We strongly advise you to not make any non-refundable travel plans until receiving your team assignment.
HOW MUCH OF THE CONFERENCE WILL I BE ABLE TO ATTEND?
Serving at a Passion conference does not allow for much participation in the conference itself. Please come willing to serve and fully aware that there may not be time to attend the conference at all.
IF I AM A COLLEGE PASTOR, CAN I ATTEND WITH MY STUDENTS OR SHOULD I VOLUNTEER?
Passion 2013 is designed for college students, high school seniors, and those who minister to them. If you are a college pastor, you and your students will benefit the most from you participating in the conference with them. If you register to attend, we ask one simple thing... bring a group of students with you!
WHAT MEALS ARE PROVIDED FOR DOOR HOLDERS DURING THE CONFERENCE DAYS?
Lunch will be provided for Door Holders on January 1, 2 and 3. Inexpensive meal options are available within walking distance of the venue.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE AT PASSION 2013?
You will need to arrive in time for a mandatory Door Holder meeting on December 31 at 8pm. We ask that you make every effort to attend. If you absolutely cannot, we will have a second meeting on January 1 at 9:30am.
WHAT IS MY SCHEDULE?
Your schedule for the duration of the conference will depend on your specific team assignment, which will be communicated by your Team Lead. You should be prepared to be available for any shift. If you are available, we'd love for you to come earlier to help us with load-in. If you indicate that you can serve during load-in, you will receive communication from us with those details in December.
WHAT IS LOAD-IN?
It takes several days to set up for Passion 2013. If you are able to serve before January 1, we can definitely use your help for "load-in," unpacking boxes and preparing the environments for students. If you would like to help with load-in, please indicate on your application the days you are available prior to January 1.
WHAT IS LOAD-OUT?
As the conference ends and students head home, our team begins ‘load out,’ the process of breaking down the different conference environments. We ask that all Door Holders be available until 5pm on January 4 to assist with load-out.
MAY I VOLUNTEER IN PHOTOGRAPHY OR PRODUCTION?
Thanks so much for offering to share your skills with us. Passion partners with a similar group of photographers and production professionals each year, so we actually already have our needs covered in these areas for Passion 2013. If you are older than 25 and available January 1 - 4, we'd love for you to apply to serve on another Door Holder team!
