Passion Remembers Students, Offers Scholarships
Lea Kraemer (L), Sarah Doelker
On Friday night, October 1, an accident involving a car carrying five college students and an ambulance claimed the lives of two students from Presbyterian College. Sarah Doelker and Lea Kraemer had arrived at the small South Carolina school at the start of the fall semester from Germany for a one-year foreign exchange program.
Both girls were followers of Jesus and involved in their local churches back home in Germany. On the evening before the accident, in an attempt to beat the October 1 price increase, Sarah Doelker had registered she and Lea for Passion 2011 (January 1-4 in Atlanta). Though we did not know Sarah and Lea, our hearts were broken once news of their deaths reached us. We are asking you to join us in praying for their families and all who loved them.
As a way of remembering Sarah and Lea (and in a small way fulfilling their desire to join with thousands of students from around the world for Passion 2011) we are setting up a Scholarship Fund in their names for this year’s gathering.
Starting today, up to 10 scholarships for Passion 2011 are available for those who qualify. The scholarships honoring Sarah and Lea are open to anyone 18-25 (including high school seniors) who have lost an immediate family member during the 2010 year and need financial assistance to attend Passion 2011 in Atlanta or Fort Worth.
To apply, contact Shannon at shannon.scott@268generation.com and share a brief account of your story. You will receive a reply from Passion Conferences confirming we have received your application and those awarded scholarships will be notified by email in a timely manner.
Please feel free to pass this opportunity to any students who might qualify and please join us in lifting up the Doelker and Kraemer families and the Presbyterian College community in your thoughts and prayers.
