And If Our God Is For Us…
It’s pushing midnight in Kyiv and we are still trying to fully process a beautiful and powerful night with over 6500 students and university aged young people in the Sports Palace. One word seems to work in every language, so can I say it again…wow!!
The word we felt like we were carrying tonight was Freedom, the result of grace that is stunningly free and radically amazing. Ukraine knows “church,” but what the Spirit of the Lord brings is liberty. So we lifted up the Saving One and echoed His grace with all our might.
Our team did such a great job, singing and leading in Russian and English. About three songs into the night Matt started singing the chorus of Blessed Be Your Name in Russian and the lid that wasn’t really so much on anyway completely blew off. It says so much when you lead in the language of the people and I love our guys for going for it and bridging the gap.
The students were pretty floored when we told them the story of Passion 2010 and how you guys that were there prayed for Kyiv and gave so generously to kick-start this journey. They got it, and flooded toward the buckets to give to help support the London stop in four days from now.
One of the coolest moments of the night happened when the band led Our God for the first time. Yep, you guessed it, the song has already made its way to this part of the world (CDs are not available here, so go figure and thank you for YouTube!) and they were on it from the start. That became our theme for the night, and is our hope and prayer for the city and the nations tonight. And if our God is for us, who could ever stop us?
Tonight, we saw the future of the Church here…a powerful wave of people awakening to the grace that brings freedom and fuels worship.
We are all pretty wiped out, but humbled and honored to spend ourselves serving the Church in Ukraine and the people of this city. Thank you to the ministry partners and churches that sacrificed so much and welcomed us for a night we will never forget.
We love you Kyiv!
Иисус живо!

That’s crazy that “Our God” was such a powerful song today for Passion Kyiv–I was out, doing errands today (during the time of Passion Kyiv) and I had the “Awakening” CD on in my car, and I felt compelled to listen to “Our God” a few times instead of just one. God is amazing!

about the time the doors were opening in Kyiv… I was in class with my art students. A C.T. song was on the radio and my mind instantly remembered what day it was. I prayed over Kyiv and the students…..then turned to my own high school students and shared with them what was going on a million miles away. That the very song (Our God) that they were hearing was going to be coming off the lips of the Ukrainian people in about an hour. After that convo they started singing along a little louder than normal and I praised God that He is moving among DeSoto, Tx HS students just as much as He is for other students in this world! He is Good and His Word is Power!!!!
Know that my classroom is lifting ya’ll up for only Father’s glory!!!

How exciting to see American students “pay it forward” and these students to do the same. Praying for London now, they are desperate for a spiritual revival and I’m confident that the Lord will use Passion as a great part of that! Can’t wait to see who walks through the glorious doors you all are holding open.

really shines a new light on God’s magnitude when we are able to see Him move and stir freedom and awakening in all the corners of the earth – amazing!

Hallelujah! Praying for the Lord to seal all He did in every heart and to continue fueling His fire in the heart of all those students in Kyiv!

Praise our great God for what He is doing in the hearts of students around the world as you on the Compassion team continue your journey. It blesses my heart, being one of the older set at 68 years young, to have been introduced to the Passion experience at Atlanta in January 2010, and then see what is happening around the world. We loved Passion 2010ATL and are signed up to go again.

Oh the tears that fill my eyes! I go to Ukraine on mission trips in the summer and told my friends over there to get to Kiev for Passion! I love hearing that the Lord is working over there even now! Jesus lives indeed.
May 10th, 2010 at 9:00 PM
YAY! Praise God! What an awesome (in the truest sense of the word) kick-start! “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” – Romans 8: 31 & 32
On to London!
May 10th, 2010 at 9:42 PM
So great to hear that the students there were so ready to help fund the next stop in London. WOW, what it says about what has been happening and continued to happen there tonight. Freedom and Liberty that can come from no where else but Our Great God. Praying for you all as you move on.

The glory of our God saturated the entire atmosphere….The songs were electrifying, spiritual and inspiring!
The message by Louie Giglio “I’m in the movie!!” was most inspiring…I never viewed the gospel from that point but now i know; i will forever play my tiny role in the “movie”, living only for HIS renown!

I just watched the two videos of Kyiv on Facebook. Awesome. I was praying and will be for London tonight. And will be watching for pictures. I was very moved when Louie said in this post that “the lid that wasn’t really so much on anyway completely blew off” when Matt sang in Russian. Having been to Atlanta in Jan, I could just imagine and feel what happened when he sang that. Thank you Louie and team.
