Oh Canada, Beautiful Kampala And Beyond
It’s more than a nice tag line for the Passion Movement when we say–The Wave Is Growing Into A Global Awakening! Actually, it’s an affirmation of what God is doing throughout the world in the rising generation of those who have found healing in His wings and want to make Him famous in all they do.
Exhibit A. This past Friday night “Passion Kampala” happened on the edge of the campus of Makerere University, home to over 30,000 students! What, you say? I didn’t know you guys were back in Africa! Well, technically, we weren’t. But our hearts were there as some of our partners from the Passion World Tour continued to build on what is happening there and hosted their own gathering to unite the students around the glory of Jesus Christ. Students packed out the event as the pastors and leaders there said it was the best response yet.
To that, I say right on! Kampala, we are with you and believe that this generation of university students can be used by God to bring healing, light, mercy, creativity and truth to Uganda.
Slightly closer to home, our friends Chris Tomlin and Kristian Stanfill are in Montreal, embarking on a trek across Canada, uniting the Church in worship as they go. More than concerts or events, these nights have the potential to plant belief, encourage faith and stir the Church to its full potential in that nation. I am so excited our friends are there and am praying for the power of the Spirit of God as they go.
And speaking of which, our team is spread far and wide as Matt is in Casper, Wyoming, gathering the church in worship with Casting Crowns as part of their tour and DC*B launches the Church Music Tour (thank you so, so much, by the way, for your thoughtful and plentiful Church Music comments!!) tonight in lovely San Antonio.
Christ be exalted. Story of grace and hope proclaimed. Lives be healed. Light shine. Global hearts awakened.

Awesome to hear what God is continuing to do in the hearts of those students in Kampala!
Sounds like busy times ahead for all the Passion team, will pray that each of those tours will bring glory to God, see Christ exalted, and lives transformed for Him.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow :)

Hoping it is time to start up first Mondays! Glad that the wave is growing. Looking forward to volunteering again at Passion 2010. God bless the team as you make preparations, and praying that the River of God would flow freely in ATL through PCC.

It is so amazing to hear that bit about Kampala, especially in light of what has happened there recently (http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=105870§ionid=351020506). Even in the darkness, God is still the Way and the Light. =]

“Turn to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness and will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance. They will say of Me, ‘Only in the Lord are righteousness and strength.’ Men will come to Him, And all who were angry with Him shall be put to shame. In the Lord all the offspring of Israel will be justified, and will glory.”
Isa. 45:22-25

The Wave is growing into a Global Awakening…I love the sound of that, of Jesus’ name and renown spreading like the best kind of virus! Kampala, Atlanta, Houston, all over the world!
I brought a group of students to the DC*B event in Houston this past weekend. The group included two new Jesus followers. It was so cool to see them experience for the first time a full on worship environment like what we did Saturday night!. I was so praying for God to touch their hearts and passion for Jesus – and He came through! (Not surprising, of course.) Most of the group is going to Passion 2010, and they are now way prepared to recruit another friend to bring with them.
Yes! The Wave is Growing! JESUS!!!!!!

Louie,
I mentioned at a meeting at The Cobb Galleria, that you don’t know anyone who built a church like you expect to build. Jim and Carol Cymbala of the Brooklyn Tabernacle came to my mind. He also has a heart for the poor, addicted, and needy.
Do you think they could be of help to you?
Looking forward to Sunda evening.
