Onehundrednintytwo Hours

It’s been a pretty crazy, but immensely beautiful, week in Passion world…starting with last Sunday night:

Walking with my friend CT to church.
Well, a different kind of church.
Sold out Soldier Field.
Eighty thousand strong.
The people of the world going to worship.
You, too?
Bono said it was church.
Anthems of a generation.
I saw grace and compassion, though.
And saw sun come up.
Crazy early flight.
Live Link bound.
ATL, GA.
Students joining.
Passion spreading.
Wave is growing.
120 students in room with us = happiness.
14,000 joining via web.
America + 43 other nations.
Technology shrinks globe.
One spiritual space.
One voice.
One hope.
Jesus.
Thousands of people.
Praying. Singing. Believing.
China and Connecticut.
Burkina Faso and Baltimore.
Malaysia and Mississippi.
Ukraine and Utah.
Ireland and Idaho.
Great Brittan and Georgia.
South Africa and South Dakota.
We missed Hannah, though.
And our tears joined hers.
Met Bozo.
Smile.
God smiles on Bozo.
We want to smile on Bozo, too.
I believe Bozo will sing His song.
Soon.
Link ends.
Access continues.
Our guests and friends.
College campus/church leaders.
In our space at Passion House.
We love college leaders!
LOVE THEM.
The are the front-line servants of the movement we seek to foster.
We hang out.
We were still.
Loud.
Honest.
United.
Encouraged.
Good bye leaders.
We are with you.
See you soon.
Night falls Tuesday.
First big 2010 registration deadline.
Watching computer screens.
Thousands pouring in.
Man, nights like this fire me up!
Not about numbers, though numbers very cool.
But seeing people’s names.
People.
You.
Wednesday night church.
Old school?
PCC.
Core team.
On our knees.
Hearing God’s Word.
Speaking faith.
Covering our weekend gathering.
Thursday calm?
No way.
Everything’s buzzing.
Crowder coming.
sixsteps crunching.
Talk preparing.
Readying Passion.
Friday brings more friends.
Amazing friends!
Volunteer Team Leaders for Passion 2010.
These people make it happen.
We = small staff team.
They = our horsepower.
Passion 2010 planning officially underway.
Vision first.
Then the details.
Many details.
Looking around room thinking-What a team!
We can do this.
Saturday goodbyes.
Sunday church.
Early load in.
Fantastic team.
Finally, this day has come.
Passion City Church gathered again.
Soggy day.
Solid night.
Cobb Energy Centre energetic.
Grace amplified.
Jesus celebrated.
People cared for.
Met new friends from Bhutan.
Bhutan is a country!
Refugees displaced from their home.
But welcomed here.
The Church should be the first to welcome refugees.
I was a refugee when Jesus welcomed me.
Worship rising.
Church happening.
Not a building.
Don’t have one.
But people.
His.
So, so good.
Great night.
Early flight.
Through clouds and rain.
Sunny Texas landing.
Celebrating with radio winners at Crowder’s for lunch.
Rudy’s anyone?
Tonight DCB plays new Church Music.
Sold out.
Word is a robot will join band and play drums.
Only Crowder.
Tomorrow, album arrives to world as we fly home.

Humbled. Depending. Covered by your prayers. Excited.

Wow…and I thought I had a busy week! Covering you with prayers and love and incredible expectation from our amazing, awesome, glorious God! Its all about Jesus!
    In Him,
    Christis Joy

P.S.The Live link was truly indescribable… there were three of us girls + 1 group leader + one eavesdropping dad ;). It was especially exciting because one of the young ladies had never even heard of Passion before but had decided to go to 2010 with us, and the other girl is a friend who’s life was completely changed at Passion Atlanta in 2008, and she is SO pumped about January. The night became such a special, sacred time of bonding together in the Lord and of preparing for what He will do in all of us at 2010 (and before). It was something else to sit on the floor praying and worshipping together and realizing that thousands of students from around the globe were doing the exact same thing at the exact same time… it gave such a sense of unity as the Body and the epic vision of the Kingdom while still being overwhelmed by the intimacy of our Savior: that He knew each of our names and our hearts. And just as an added bonus, during the simulcast I received a call from my brother who has recently moved from Kentucky to Plymouth, Massachussetts to teach at a Christian school, and he was watching and joining in at the same time- it was such an encouragement to him, as he is serving in a somewhat cold spiritual climate, to be able to connect with that many believers at once… so thank you so much for everything! :) Greater things are yet to come!

It will be my first time attending a Passion event and I am overwhelmed with excited for what God has planned. Keep up the work and know that I am praying for you guys as you all finish planning the conference. You all are doing great things for God’s Kingdom!

    Looking forward to January!

Wow Aslan’s Girl ! Remember we prayed together at the foot of the Cross at Pure Grace 2007. What a divine appointment. Great to hear you could listen in with friends and worship !Praying He is glorified in your life and your friend’s lives as you seek Him.

  6. Kate Says:

Registered for Passion 2010 just hours before Live Link and I’m more excited than ever. PCC Sunday night was an incredible reminder of that incredible grace we’ve been given(which, coincidentally, we’ve been preparing a lesson series on for our students).

On a slightly random note, Louie, in your apparent admiration of the Olympics, have you been out to the Atlanta History Center’s Olympic exhibit? At the camp I worked at this summer, we took the campers to the exhibit. Most of them weren’t born during the 1996 games, but being that I was nine at the time, I loved it and would highly recommend visiting if you haven’t already!

I can’t wait to see you guys at the next PCC and then at Passion 2010!!!

  7. Whitney & Randy Says:

That was beautiful. The kind of thing you want to read really slowly.
How beautiful the feet that bring the Good News – Jesus.

We drove from Destin to hear Louie and see Chris. First time we have heard Louie live in 8 years. Our God is an awesome God as Louie gets better and better and better and better! We saw Chris play at the Rock Church in San Diego this past spring. Wonderful concert and worship. I thank God and I mean I thank God that He has introduced us to these men and I will keep them in pray daily. I can not wait to see where and how the journey leads them

  11. Patt Says:

I thank God that he has blessed you guys so much. Your heart for Christ is just undeniable. I pray that the weather over there hasn’t dampened the fire from the Holy Spirit. (no pun intended) Please keep the passion for Christ burning and continue to let the Holy Spirit work through you guys

  13. Priscilla Says:

Wow amazing what God has done in only ONE week!! Thanks for listing all those things. I also like how you said ‘I was a refugee when Jesus welcomed me’ – amen, that is true of us all who are His!

Wow this was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read. My heart started pounding, my struggles seem to have fallen off my shoulders, and I’m reminded what I’m here for.
