I Heart Tokyo!
Hello from Tokyo, where the city lights blanket the skyline for as far as I can see in every direction from my 30th floor hotel. Looking across the vast expanse, I know that somewhere among the tens of millions of people who are in my view are 2000 who have had a really great, and for me unforgettable, night at Passion Tokyo. An over-capacity crowd jammed into CC Lemon Theater for what will certainly be a highlight on a tour filled with such incredible memories it’s beginning to make our heads spin. But when you are in a metro area of close to 30 million, where only 100,000 or so are followers of Jesus, you get pretty fired up about a gathering like the one we just experienced, and you don’t want to be anywhere else on earth.
Though the numbers of Believers in Tokyo are not in our favor yet, the Church is coming to life here and there is an openness to the story of grace. And there are enough people carrying the light of Christ to absolutely see a huge turnaround among the people of this city. That’s what we are believing for…and what this night was all about!
Passion Tokyo was a dream come true for us, and for so many others. One of them was a university student named Natsuki, who while attending a Passion Thirsty conference in Atlanta put her faith in Christ. Funny story–Natsuki didn’t speak hardley any English, so she fell asleep during my talk that night, but woke up as we were having Communion and felt the power of the gospel come oer her life. As we were celebrating the death and life of Christ she leaned down the row and told someone in her group that she wanted to become a Christian! Natsuki has been at several events since then, most recently Passion Boston while she was studying in New England, and she told me she had always wanted to hear me talk in Japanese. Well, tonight Natsuki was in the middle of 2000 crazy, loud worshiping Japanese, and my talk was translated into her native tongue. She told me afterward she was so happy her dream had come true.
Chris, David, Matt and their bands did a phenomenal job tonight and the place was alive from the moment the “Hello Tokyo” video hit. And speaking of the video, it’s so powerful watching that video night after night, tonight’s version being all Japanese. But when “JESUS IS ALIVE” fills the screen it really doesn’t matter what language it’s in, the power of that confession brings people to their feet.
Seoul, your many, many signs of love for Tokyo were a huge hit tonight…and we left them all in the hands of happy students. And, I only saw the Hong Kong sign when I got these photos tonight…so forgive me for not making mention of it during the night. But, way to go Tokyo.
Little lights are glistening as far as the eye can see, a beautiful picture of what is to come for the land of the rising sun.
It’s late, so I will sign off now, but our whole Passion Team is stunned with our love for this place and humbled to be a small part of what our great God is doing here tonight!
For us all, Louie

Hi Louie and Passion team!
First of all, thank you sooo much for all the blogs and pictures you post. It is always so exciting to see and read what the Lord is doing in people’s lives. God never ceases to amaze me. Each time I read a new blog my heart just gets so full, I feel like it’s going to explode! God is so AWESOME!!! It’s like a chain with each city and nation an individual “link” attaching to the next “link” and so on. Pretty soon the whole world will be encircled in a giant chain of grace!! Totally united for His renown!! That’s so cool!!! You guys are so blessed to be a part of what the Lord is doing! I envy you all! (in a good way, if there is such a thing as “good” envy! Ha Ha!). I pray you all get some much needed rest as you continue on the journey. Believing for greater things yet to come!

I was listening to the 2 latest podcasts this morning (Canada / Korea). It’s so humbling to feel like being part of a worldwide movement even if it’s only through some lengthy podcasts… ;) I’ve never ever in my life been to a Passion event – and that probably never will happen – but I’m so excited about what God is doing around the world.
So as I sat at my desk today, I’ve been figuring out the times and dates for the last three nights of the World Tour (Tokyo included). I penned them down and no doubt I’m going to pray for the last leg of this tour.
Thanks, Louie and the Passion-team, for letting us be a part of this from all around the world! May God continue to bless you greatly! Greater things are yet to come! Praise God!

PRAISE GOD!
If you happened to see a white kid about 6ft 2in with black hair and a goofy smile, that was my friend Ben who is staying there for the school year.
Over the summer some of the members of my youth group had the amazing opportunity to be a part of a mission trip to Sapporo in Hokkaido the northernmost island. Being at passion DC and Atlanta changed my life COMPLETELY and have loved being able to spread the fame of Christs name ever since. We have been praying for this night for a long time now and are SO excited to see God manifest it in such a powerful way.
Much Love and keep on keepin’ on Louie and the Passion Team

“For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light.” (Psalm 36:9).
I recently found this verse and is TOTALLY in love with it! Tonight it is my prayer to the 2000 students who attended Passion and the 100 000 Christians in this amazing city of over 30 million people:
“For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light.” (Psalm 36:9).
WOW.

Thank you so much for making it to Japan! I go to a solid church in Japan, but this was the most amazing experience I have had since moving to Japan 7 years ago. I was so overwhelmed with the spirit of Jesus from the moment the “Hello Tokyo!” powerpoint started.
Thank you for the refreshment I was in such desperate need for, and thank you for reminding Tokyo that God has not forgotten us. I’m so excited to see how his light will shine in this dark city this year!

October 13th, 2008 at 9:12 PM
Thank you so much for the wonderful message and worship.
After being raised in America, moving back to Japan was probably one of the most difficult things I have experienced in my life. I haven’t been to church in a long time and attending Passion was like a dream come true. It was absolutely breathtaking.
Slowly, I was fading away from my walk with God. But last night, I felt a revival, the Spirit of God overflowing my soul.
I will continue praying for your missions. I know He is going to change Japan… and this entire world through us.
Thank you again. And God bless all of you.

Hi there Passion Team!, Louie!
I went to Passion Mexico City and it was so amazing!, really , really thank you for what you did!,
I can say God really touch my heart that weekend in such a way I’ve never experienced before!
The Holy Spirit really moved those days upon each one of us!,..
I truly believe God is calling for us to stand and shine por Jesus!,. We are in a Global Crisis! and is sad to see
the most of the people is hopeless :(, God says in Jeremiah “Cursed is the man who trusts in man”,.. But the most of these people haven’t heard that in Jesus there is HOPE!,…
Mexico is for Christ !!!
I’m still wearing my wristband and praying for the rest of the World Tour cities!,..
I think I will wear it until u come back to Mexico!!!
On past friday I was with some friends and they invited me to a some kind of birthday party,, and I remembered what you told us on Passion,,, to light in the darkness ,, so I thought “allright GOd I’m in this world but I’m not part of it”,.. so I went there… and it was so amazing… couple hours after I was sharing the gospel with two of them… I was so amazing!!!.. I saw things in HDTV!. no matter where you are!,. we have the power of God !,.. we can change our campus! our city! our nation!,.. God is there waiting to support us after we take the first step with faith!!!
For the first time I can realize God has a plan in my life to make it count for His Kingdom!, for His Renown!, for His Glory!!
WOW! =)
Thanks Passion!
Blessings from Queretaro, Mexico!!
God Bless u all!
God Is with you always!!!
I’ll be in touch through the podcast and the blog!…

Hi Louie and Passion Team,
Thank you x3 for your ministry!! I have been following Passion since the beggining and I have waited and waited and waited for you guys to come to Japan but finally happened!! I am from Osaka Japan but I just could not miss this oppotunity and I also wanted young people in our church to SEE what God is doing in the world today so 34 of us came from the city of Osaka! I believe tonight was not only for Tokyo city but tonight was for whole country of Japan. I pray that the each people who attended the Passion will carry the light and passion of Christ all over Japan and this nation will see great harvest!
God bless you and we will continue to pray for the Hong Kong and Australia!!
October 13th, 2008 at 11:23 PM
Louie!!
It was such a blessing being able to be a part of Passion. I was so touched by the Holy Spirit last night there at the auditorium during worship. Your message was very impactful.
It was so nice seeing the bands live last night for the first time.
Let us be a light in the darkness

Go Luis! Your faith in action is what it’s all about! You are letting your light shine and showing others God’s love for them! You CAN change your campus, your city, your nation by trusting God and taking that step of faith!!! Thank you Lord, for letting these seeds take root!!!!
:)
October 14th, 2008 at 1:32 AM
Wow-what amazing photos! All the beautiful faces of Tokyo! My heart just leapt at the sight of those photos, and in reading all the entries it again just inspired me, as I have been feeling a bit down, but God is gracious and in our moments of weakness He shows us the right course of action, with a soft hand He leads us on paths of rightesousness! So praying that you will remain steadfast Tokyo and sensitive to the leading of God’s Holy Spirit… Whoohoo Hong Kong your next and we keep on praying that your eyes will also be opened to see in HD! (Love this analogue)
Glory to God forever!!

it is awesome to see how God is uniting us even though we do have this deeply embedded bitterness between the two nations.
But it is so evident that God is so much bigger!
Honestly, I have never prayed for Tokyo/Japan before, but I thank God that He stirred my heart the whole time while you guys were there, to cry out for Japan, those who were attending the conference, and for all Japanese people who yet don’t know God.
God Bless You Tokyo and may God shake your nation upside down! Woot woot!
From South Korea~~

Hey I’m the kid in the front who listens to your podcast. Thank you guys for coming so much!!! Last night was amazing!!! I totally felt God’s presence at the auditorium. It was so encouraging to see the auditorium full of people who were worshiping the one and only true God together. I’ve never seen this many people at a Christian thing in Japan. I really hope all the people that were at Passion Tokyo can just be a light to Japan. I am so glad I went, even though I live in Nara and also had to miss school.
Thank you guys for the great worship music and the message! It makes me want to just spread the Word and make Jesus famous!!!!
Please come back to Japan again! God Bless You guys!!

By the way…I hope Hong Kong likes my banner. I actually got someone from Hong Kong that went to PASSION Tokyo to write in Chinese on it for me. =]

Hi Louie and the Passion Team,
I’m a Japanese living here in Tokyo. Born and raised in Indonesia, the US, the Philippines, and moved back to Japan.
What an amazing concert!!
I was moved so much from the very beginning…the slide show was so powerful and the opening songs by Chris was used by God to move me, I was asking God to forgive me, and change me in so many ways…tears just kept running down and I just kept praying to God and worshiping him with everything I had!
Your story and message about the grace of God and Ashley’s story spoke to my heart..It was good to hear such a powerful message…been a long time since I’ve heard someone speak like that, especially in English! :)
Though it was my first time at a Christian concert, let a alone a Passion conference, I just cant wait to get the chance again to join you guys and worship the name of Jesus together! I hope that I will get that chance soon..
Although I am beyond amazed and thankful with all my heart that you guys would come to Tokyo to share the spirit of Jesus Christ with us, at the same time it breaks my heart that no one among our own is standing up and bringing such worship and spreading the light of Jesus in the scale that you guys showed us tonight. Although we do have Christian music and artists, none of them really seem to hit the spot for a lot of us. I can understand English better than Japanese, lol, so I can naturally relate to worship songs and worship music that I buy from the states, but normal Japanese people can’t do that. They can’t relate to the songs and worship style in the way that I can.
Yet I pray that God will raise people up here in Japan. Japanese artists that will bring the heart of worship in the way that Chris, Matt, and David did, but in OUR OWN language! That will indeed bring a REVIVAL to the Christians and church of Japan, especially to our younger generation…
I will be keeping my “hospital band” on till Thursday and praying for Hong Kong!;) That God will continue to lead the way for your amazing work for Jesus Christ!!
God Bless and strengthen you all!!
心を込めて主に感謝します!神さまがパッションの働きをますます祝福し用いてくださるように祈ってます!
I thank God with all of my heart and pray that God will continue to bless and use the the Passion team for God’s work!!
October 14th, 2008 at 4:13 AM
If it wasn’t for our AMAZING God, this wouldn’t be an AMAZING NIGHT… We are Filipino missionaries to Yokohama, Japan. I came to worship God with my family, our church… An awesome God we have. I was so blessed, so touched to see Japanese crazy in worshiping God (in HDTV)… May there be more FRUITCAKES in Japan….
Thank you for ministering…. “Greater things are yet to come, greater things are still to be done… in this nation JAPAN”…
Thank you so much PASSION for coming to Tokyo… God bless you more…
to God be the GLORY…

Louie, it was my dream to see such a thing happen in Japan. Ever since I went to Passion in the USA, I just thought how it would be great to see this sort of event in Japan happen as I want to become a missionary/worship leader there. I wanted to go to a Passion-event in Japan, where less than 1% of the population is Christian. Sadly, I couldn’t go to Passion Tokyo because I’m just a poor university student in the US, but to see this truly happen in front of my computer screen, I was awestruck by God’s power. Not to mention, I was so surprised that the C.C. Lemon Hall was packed too! But to tell you the truth, I was kind of jealous that all my Japanese friends in Japan got to experience Passion Tokyo! Must’ve been awesome alright!
Thanks Louie and rest of the Passion Team! I’m sure that even though how awesome Passion Tokyo must’ve been, this is only the tip of the iceberg for what’s to come for Japan and the World.
October 14th, 2008 at 5:12 AM
Oh wow to see the lovely writing in Japanese/Chinese is great! While reading the blog and the part of JESUS IS ALIVE – gospel goosies covered me. Yes He is alive and will return for His children. Stunning pics and beautiful faces all ready to worship the most high God. Louis & the passion team you all deserve to see such wonderful places as we know you all work hard – He blesses you all every moment a smile lights up a face in worship. Now we know why the greatest gift we receive from Jesus is love – it should be the easiest to share and spread around…..The Holy Spirit is already at your next stop and touching hearts for change.. :>)

God was definitely there last night right from the start!!!!! It was amazing from the beginning….and just kept getting better!! I dreamt of seeing something young people pouring their hearts and lives out to Jesus Christ in Japan..and never thought I’d actually get to see it..until last night. As a Hong Kong-er myself living out in the sticks of the Japanese countryside, it was emotional to see 2000+ young adults praying for my hometown….just awesome. madly awesome.

PASSION TOUR WAS AMAZING!!!!
I enjoyed it so much!!! Louie, your message was such an encouragement!! I have been in Japan (Nagoya area) for 6 months now. God has sent me to Japan to teach at a Christian preschool/daycare. We have started practice for Christmas play. I am teaching my children “this little light of mine” to sing for the play. I was reminded that it’s not just a song, but I need to live out my life as that light that I’m singing about. I have a helper in my class, Mrs. Maruyama who is not save. I have been praying that I would be a light to her, but my life has not really been a light. I pray that what I got out of the conference will stick with me!!!
oh, and Leona, thanks for the post!!! (posted at 4:50pm) Thank you for praying!!!!

Hey, is there a way for me to thank Seoul for the signs they sent us? Like a major church a lot of them came from or anyone actually. I’d like to write a thank you to someone. I actually don’t know if you’ll ever get to this comment, so if any of you who prayed for Tokyo are reading this comment, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You’re prayers are just as important as the light we are carrying into this city and for you to be able to turn and pray for us in the time of need, despite our past, that is true love. Thank you, brother Seoul.

Thank you all who served God to make Passion Tokyo happen!!!
Thank you Seoul for all the powerful prayers!!!
Thank you Louie for encouraing message you gave us!!!
Thank you Chris, Matt, David and all the band members for the fantastic music!!
I just move to here Tokyo this April for University. I really like here, but sometime miss my home and fellowship there. And sometimes I wonder it would be so easier and sweeter to be at home and stay at the fellowship there I really love. Now, I started getting plugged in fellowship here and know there is something I need to do.
so, last night, God made it so clear. It is carrying the Light which gives hope and life!! I was over encouraged to do the work of God!! I rejoyce to be a part of His wonderful works here Japan!!
I just started small Bible study. I know God wants me to do this. I really REALLY pray I will show and explain His Grace to non-believers.
Thank you again all of you who were involved in this event, and those who were there worshiping with me!!
I hope you’ll come back next year, if Lord’s willing.
and Above all, Thank You Lord for Your Grace, Mercy, Love and bringing Passion here!!!
TO GOD ALONE BE THE GLORY!!

Passionの皆さん、本当にありがとう!
神様、期待して、進んで行きます!

even thought i couldn’t go, thank you so much for coming to tokyo!!!
i served as a short term missionary in Osaka for the past year, but sadly had to return home 2 weeks before tokyo passion =( i was majorly bummed, but so happy for God to answer a prayer request for great generation movements like Passion to come and encourage this generation for Christ in Japan! Hallelujah!!!
Native to Chicago, I had always wanted to go to but haven’t had the chance to yet so when i heard that you guys were coming to tokyo, i told our college students and young adults that THEY MUST GO!!!! even if that meant an 8-hour bus-ride (long in japan) and going to work Tuesday a little tired they had to go!!!
I just talked to some of my students that went via skype and they are on fire, praise God!!!!! not only have the students been touched but my fellow missionaries who were able to attend have been so encouraged and refreshed to continue working God’s harvest field… truly the harvest in Japan is plenty but the workers too few… so from the bottom of my heart, even though i didn’t go, thank you not only for jump starting the Japanese youth, but reviving the hearts of workers as well…
PLEASE COME TO OSAKA NEXT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)
may God continue to bless Passion Conferences and use them to wake up this generation for His Kingdom!!!

It’s amazing how God has used Passion around the world.
I attended Passion Vancouver last week and tears dropped continuously…joyful tears…I just can’t find better words to describe my experience that night, especially during the prayer time
Now, just reading up on your blog, Louie, makes me so happy that tears run down again…even after reading it like 5+ times.
it’s just amazing how God has united all of us around the world.
Matthew 18:19-20
19″Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”
It’s amazing to see, not just two or three, but thousands of people united in prayers for the cities around the world…amazing to know that people from around the globe prayed for my home city, and to know that we are also praying for other cities…although none of us may know every other, but knowing that we are in God together…one church, one body…it’s just crazy
with that thought, I’ll continue to pray for Hong Kong and Sydney, and Passion for the future. Knowing that you’re going to Hong Kong, where I was born, is truly amazing..I pray that God will continue to use you all to the fullest and you guys will have a safe trip all around.
Thank you brothers and sisters in Christ! God bless you!
October 15th, 2008 at 4:42 AM
I love how we all, with different cultures and backgrounds, are connected in worship and prayer. Hong Kong, hold on to your hats.

It was really, really amazing night!

Maybe it is true that nowadays is very important days for the revival of Japan.
To all of the Japanese youth within Christ:
Go for it, without any shame!
Nobody cannot shame you,
for our Lord will never be ashamed of you!

Thank you Passion and Louie for coming all the way to Japan!!
It was my dream too to have you guys in Tokyo and praise God together!
It was really a amazing experience that night.
I could never forget it.
And I really felt the love of God and the followers of Jesus,
that they really loved Tokyo, and that they really cared for us Japanese.
That was really a blessing and a reminder to me that
I too need to pray even MORE for my country.
Yes, I need to pray even MORE.
I brought my friend from my university.
She was a special kind of girl, who is interested in the Bible.
I dont know why but she does. Before I ever told that i was a beliver,
she was interested in it. Isnt that interesting?
So I bought a ticker for her, and brought her to Shibuya to go to Passion.
And she told me that she had an a amazing experience during Passion.
I could see it in her eyes that she came to know God.
Or I should say God’s grace.
Once again I want to thank all of you,
Louie, Matt, Chris, David, and all of the band members, crews, tour manager…
that it was the best night!
I’m a vocalist in my worship band, and we make songs and stuff.
Of course I sing your songs, love your songs.
And Passion made me make a big step out of church,
and go out to the city to tell Jesus.
Be the light of Jesus.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
Ill pray for Passion that you guys will be used even more,
even more you could ever imagine.
Take care, and keep up the good work!!
PS:I bought a iPod today just to listen to your Podcast! lol
I was a sony user, but i bought it just to listen to you Louie! :)
With all the love,

WOW…you guys lifted my spirits. My wife and I are missionaries in Japan and we are currently at home raising support to return. We visit different churches each week sharing the overwhelming needs of Japan. Sometimes it seems the task is too great, but after listening to your encouraging comments we remember that God gives the growth and reaps the harvest.
Praise God for the light in Japan. May it shine on and may God receive ALL glory!
October 21st, 2008 at 6:23 AM
Thank you so much for coming to Japan. The youth of our church were very impacted by your ministry which is exactly what we had been praying for.
Maybe next time you can come to Osaka, too!
November 24th, 2008 at 11:19 PM
I just started listening to this podcast because I saw the word passion and thought that it’d be uplifting to my spirit to be able to listen to something that would help me to be on fire for Jesus! :) Sometimes it’s really hard even being an American student that’s a Christian and I can’t imagine how hard it is for students in Japan, but I do know one thing, we’re not of this world, but we are here in this world and we’re all spreading the message of the gospel so others can know Jesus! :)
Well, I listened to this podcast about “I Heart Japan” and my heart couldn’t be more full of love and feel the Holy Spirit speaking to me. God’s been putting it on my heart to go to Japan since this October, and I’ve applied to go to Japan this summer. God’s doing SO MUCH in the lives of the people in Japan. It’s amazing how the Holy Spirit shows us how other people see Jesus and what He means to them. Having our eyes opened like that to other possibilities is amazing.
Thank you for this podcast. Thank you for spreading the Gospel message. Thank you for loving and serving Jesus! :D

PLEASE COME BACK TO TOKYO!!!!I had so much fun at this concert and I really want to relive it again! Please! I remember that my legs were so sore from jumping and my arms were sore from holding them up, and my voice was almost gone because of all the worshipping I was doing! I even waved at Louie and he gave me a thumbs-up! Thank you for coming here and I hope to see you soon!
:D

Hi Louie & the whole staff of the Passion Team,
I am one of the many Christians whose spiritual growth bloomed in a foreign land. I could not even imagine myself being one of the vast crowd during the Passion Team’s Concert Tour in Tokyo.
That was such an amazing experience in my whole Christian life to be able to witness and actually be a part in singing and jumping for great joy in a very heart-touching Christian concert. I was there with my daughter, Crisselle Cassandra, co-church members of the Filipino Worship Service Japan Assemblies of God Shinohara Kyoukai and our dear pastors. Both the youth and the adult worshipers who were there with us were indeed blessed. I personally felt the Holy Spirit moved in each one of us when we were singing with the team. I would be looking forward for another opportunity of witnessing how different cultures from different races and backgrounds come together as one in giving praise to our one and only Messiah, our soon coming King! May all the Christians all over the world remain steadfast for the Lord continues to prove His magnificent power for all His people.
You had done a rewarding job in this nation, Japan, as well as to the other parts of the world through your songs and testimonies. Praying for more overflowing blessings to each one of you as you minister to the various hungry souls of the Lord’s kingdom.
Greater things are still to be done…greater things are yet to come from our Almighty Father because He always keeps His promises to all His people who willingly enlist themselves to be in the front line of His faithful servants…
Hallelujah!!!
