Awake-In HK!

This place is beyond belief!  We have just arrived back at our hotel in Central HK, and area that is known as the SoHo of Hong Kong, and though it’s 12:30 AM the streets are teaming with people enjoying a night out in the city.  I’m about to fall over, but HK feels like it’s just revving up for the night.  But before I crash, I wanted to share some of the pics from a night that was “Wooooooow.”

Needless to say, we are pretty blown away by the privilege of being in China tonight, even if it’s the more open and “western” HK…it’s still China.  And right in the middle of it all close to 2100 people filled Queen Elizabeth Stadium to worship the One who breathes all things to life.  It is still a little hard to believe what just happened…it was truly awesome.

I think half the world was there tonight…friends from the US, people from Canada, Africa, and some who had been at other World Tour stops in Seoul, KL, Manila and who knows where else.  Like HK, it was a melting pot of cultures and nations, yet our voices were united for His name.

Sam Lu, our friend from Passion DC who just graduated from a university in the mainland, was with us and brought a bunch of her friends.  And we know of many other mainlanders who were there as well.  I don’t have all the details yet, but someone told me on the way out about one of them who came to know the grace of God tonight for the very first time!  Right on to that, and I am sure there are, and will be others that we may not know about until heaven.

Once again, there was sheer amazement and joy on their faces as different songs would start throughout the night, and the same looks on ours as we kept scanning the crowd in wonder.  And tonight was a 360 night, one where people kept looking around the room because they were stunned at how many people were in one place celebrating Jesus.

Passion Hong Kong was a spark, but there is a massive tide in this city that is moving without any thought of any god but those of success, accomplishment, place and pleasure.  We are praying our time here tonight will be a catalyst for this city and the cities of what is the most populated nation on the planet.  Great things are happening here, but there is more brewing in the heart of God for these precious people.

Thanks to Tokyo for all your support tonight.  You gave over $140,000 HKD (more than $18,000 US) for this night and covered us with your prayers.  On behalf of HK and all of us on the Passion Team, thank you!

Let God arise!
Louie

I have been following this blog closely ever since it left the city of gold(Johannesburg) and every time I have read the blog its been a blessing to me to see so so many young people like myself alive and on fire in Jesus…there is hope for the world and his name is Jesus…so many people standing in Christ taking up the great commission given to us to make disciple out of all the nations.

Thank you to every-one evolved in the world tour thus far, if your goal was to Unite the heart of the worlds future(youth) by the looks of it its working…but most of all thank you Father God for the love that you have for us…that you bless us so abundantly, thank you so much for you Son and the Forgiveness….love you.

I’m praying for a great revival in HK, let the light shine!! let the seeds that was planted tonight just grow into much fruit baring trees for every season…to bring God glory.

  10. Rodrigo Says:

Wow, I was just praying last night thinking Passion HK would take place on Friday! So I was totally surprised when I saw the blog a few minutes ago (I was just checking, not actually hoping I would find anything new). But, hey, that’s great, I’m happy I was already praying for you guys and for China (even though that whole “God is outside-inside History, so it doesn’t matter when you pray”).

I can’t wait to listen to the new podcasts! That sign saying Korea, China and Japan are 1 in God (something like that) was trully a beautiful thing to see, especially considering the History behind these nations. Wow!

Expecting even greater things for HK and China as a whole!

Sydney, be ready! May God do something really really really wonderful over there as well!!!!!!

Praying for all the Passion team. :-)

  17. alan Says:

it was very very very exciting last night, we had about 12 church friends went there together, and some of them were just the first time to experience this kind of worship, thanks God last night to bring so much joy there and I could still hear the roar of praying together, it was AWESOME~~~~~~~

Keep going the team of PASSION, we will keep praying for you guys, and GOD BLESS SYDNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Gail Says:

It was great to hear all about HK and about someone coming to faith in Jesus. May there be many, many more who we will meet at The After Party because they heard about Grace for the first time!!!
May God increase the harvest from the seeds sown last night .

  19. Cheryl Says:

I’m smiling as I type…we are literally able to pray around the clock as Louie said because Passion is crossing the globe. Letting you know that there are Jamaicans with you on this journey in prayer and good wishes and excitement and love.

Please guys, let’s keep praying not just for the next stop but for the ppl who’ve been touched by this World Tour already…they will need help to keep shining for Jesus.

  20. Dawn in Virginia Says:

Oh, my goodness! Thank you so much for the blogs, the photos (they are stunning!!), and podcasts! Just got done “I Heart Tokyo” – I love listening to each one and getting a small sense of what it was like to be there! How many languages has Chris sung in??!! Now Japanese! Love it! Each time, it brings me to tears – tears of joy! So powerful! Then to hear the people respond! I think it shows each nation such love and respect – like Louie said (I think he said it), our faith is not just for white Americans, it is a faith for every nation, every tongue and every color of skin. We are fervently praying for all of you (and all of the cities) – I cannot believe there’s just one more stop! You have been such an encouragement to so many – me included! Thank you for what you are doing and may God continue to richly bless each of you…..greater things, Lord! –d.

  21. Aslan's Girl Says:

  23. Anonymous Says:

I will draw all men unto me! how great IS our GOD!…
    Praying for all of you!

  24. Greg Says:

I give thanks to God for all those who served to make Passion Hong Kong happen! His name was lifted high last night and many believers united for that one goal…

I was able to bring 23 people from my two small groups and we had a very rich experience last night. I look forward to hear how people were impacted by this evening when we meet for our next small group gatherings.

Thanks for motivating HK to living with a great passion for God. Praying that the same will happen in Sydney…

  25. Greg Says:

One more thing…it was great to have all of the songs translated into Chinese! What an undertaking that must have been. Since many groups here do use many of these English songs in their worship times, it would be great to also provide people with the Chinese translation. I’m wondering if there is any way that the Chinese versions would be available for people to download and use (even for a fee)? It would be a great asset…and would be used to proclaim His fame in HK and the mainland…

  26. Lisa Says:

    AMEN!!! God is soooo good!!!!!

  27. Tim Lee Says:

    Hong Kong’s on fire!

  28. Irina Says:

It was an amazing night full of God’s presence and His grace to come and repent and acknowledge one more time His vast love and grace for me and receive it freely with my both hands stretched widely in worship.

I was worshiping and thanking God that only by His mercy and grace he chose me, miraculously handpicked me as a kid from a post-Soviet Muslim country of Uzbekistan to come and know Him and His Truth. And it is only by His grace and mercy I could stand and praise and worship him freely and boldly in such a multitude of worshipers! (Something we would always dream of in Uzbekistan as we can never do it openly)

Before the concert I was so thirsty to worship together, but Passion HK leaves me even more thirsty to worship Him, the Powerful and the Faithful One, every day of my life~

  29. alan Says:

Especially like the translation of HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD in Chinese

    that was AWESOME!!!!

anyone remember all the Chinese lyrics of HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD ?
i think many ppl would love to sing that as well in their church, isn’t it GREAT ??!!

  30. Merie Says:

This blog just blew me away, goosebumps and tears tell me that our God is an awesome awesome great God! HK is indeed CHINA! ANd what happened last night is something historical. Have read that most Chinese that were there were their first time to FREELY worship. Wooooooooooooooow!!! And others still were their first time to hear about the story of Jesus! Hallelujah!!! This is so wonderful! God is moving.!

I pray that the seeds planted would grow and extend their fruits..

And as Passion is about to make the last stop in Sydney, I pray that all the cities would just be strongly united in His name and will forever declare His majesty and tell and retell the mighty story of our Saviour!

God bless HK!! God Bless Passion Team!

    Merie (Manila, Philippines)

  31. Winnie Says:

Just want to thank the Lord for everything that had happened.
Although I can’t be there in Hong Kong for the night, I believe God has used Passion greatly.

It’s so amazing to see the pictures of people lifting their hands up for God…knowing that our culture (I was born and raise in HK and moved to Canada) is more reserved. Just so amazing.

    Tears drop T_T

Thanks for all that you’ve brought to the city.
    Thank you and thank You.

  32. Deidre - Jhb Says:

I was just hearing the podcast today in the bus, and remembering the posts on the blog, those that show the Love of Jesus Christ, like the poster “I Heart Tokio” and the other, and I just thinking about the little things that we do to show God’s Love, like when Chris singed How Great Is Our God in japonese, this little things that make the diference, the little things show that we care one another, I Love little acts of love….
There so much that I want to say, but my english is not to good, I’m from São Paulo – Brasil, I know that greater things have yet to come, because I have friends that will keep the Passion bracelet until the finish of the Wold Tour, and that is the generation that we are looking for, a generation that just care about the renown of Jesus Christ, and do what He does…

Bye people from all over the world God Bless you all, I almost cry when I hear the croud shouting for the name of Jesus Christ in every podcast, keep this heart and be the Generation 268, for His fame….

  54. Mike T Says:

What an awesome night! It was such a privilege to volunteer with the passion team, and to see the hall filled with people singing their hearts out.

I’d love to use some of the Chinese translations in our church. Are they available somehow?

Just had to share one small story about the evening. I was standing near an exit door for most of the evening, and just behind the door sat a cleaner. He was there the whole night, just getting up to do his cleaning. But he must have been able to hear Louie, as when He got to the story about the girl who died in a car crash, the cleaner came inside the hall and started watching the stage in amazement! I had to head outside soon after to help with the offering, but it was awesome to see him so captivated by the message. He has probably worked there for many events, but I doubt any others have grabbed him like this one did. Wow!

Thanks everyone for your tireless efforts. You are impacting the nations!

  55. Gloria Says:

    HK Passion was gr8 :D

Praise God!

Ahh… I just realized I posted my feedback at blog entry before this…

Louie..I needed to pass you something. I deeply regret for not bringing it with me that night. =( Your friend and I failed to meet up to discuss on meeting details. Please tell me where can I mail it to? I’ve got them for you and I don’t wanna keep it for the next few years =(

BTW all..here’s my feedback regarding Passion HK :

It was such an incredible night! Flying in from KL, Malaysia to attend Passion HK was worth it. I went there with a purpose to bring my younger brother to listen to that powerful testimony of Ashely but I’ve got something back myself..

I’ve caught another perspective of “grace”. Just like what you said Louie…i’m finally watching HD TV on “grace”. It’s awesome Louie. I’m so so glad I was there. Your msg was clear & precise. I like your analogy of HD TV. Thanks Louie & team. You guys are wonderful in your ways of bringing out the goodness of God no matter which ministry you’re in.

Jeremy..you brought beautiful sights of God’s creation in different continents. i enjoy looking at every photo that you took. Thanks!
Jim… thanks for your wonderful spirit.. so warm and friendly…while speaking to us in that looonggg queue….
and of coz..Chris Tomlin for your beautiful song for Jesus. Holy Spirit has definitely use your song to move in my heart. ALWAYS!!!

Lastly HK, God loves you. It doesn’t matter where we’re from but we are definitely to see mighty God doing great things in every city..and that include yours! I’m looking forward for God’s next step and continue praying for us all NOT to miss His timing.

We only live ONCE.Let’s do something for Jesus now!

    Passionate 4 Jesus,

  62. Celine Wong Says:

Oh btw Louie..shouldn’t you be saying “Waaaahhhh” in your blog above instead of “Wooooww” . It’s the Asian way..Hehe.. and it’s REALLY funny the way you put it.

Waahhh Louie.. you spoke so well!
Very “Ging” !! (chinese famous word of saying : “Powerful”)

Sydney peeps..hope that you guys will catch “IT” too!!

  64. priscilla Says:

    PTL!!!
im from Toronto, Canada but am of chinese decent so was definitely looking forward to hearing about how the HK tour stop went. i was also at PassionDC so its awesome to see Sam praising God in her home country!
i finally got a chance to listen to the podcast. waahhh! HO GING AH! good attempt Mr. Giglio, good attempt! haha… was Francis there? would’ve loved him to bust out his chinese, like at Passion 2007 =P
hearing Tomlin and the rest of PassionHK sing How Great Is Our God in chinese was so powerful. it just hit me. it doesnt matter what you speak, or what your culture is. you can still praise God no matter what!
im gunna go look up the lyrics and introduce this song to my church’s chinese congregation. our english congregation has been singing it for the past few years. its about time we shared it with the chinese congregation, and in their own language too.
it would be awesome if Passion could compile all the lyrics of all the other languages that they used on this world tour. it’d be a good resource. or perhaps available at worship frequency.
    我神真偉大!

  66. Kate Flanagan Merten Says:

    Passion Hong Kong was Amazing!
I don’t even know where to begin
Passion HK came in the middle of a china mission trip for me and was at truely divine timing as we had just spent a week in mainland China. Arriving in Hong Kong we met so many young people who we were able to share with and brought a new christian guy with us who’s response was simply “Does God really love me that much?” it was unbelivable being able to open up and share with him knowing tat God could bring a simple hurting girl from australia to china and be able to be in his presence withh so many chineese people!
Praise God for the work he is doing in Hong Kong and Mainland China
