Typhoon Grace!!

A little over two days have passed since we left Jakarta on flights that would land us in Africa for the second time on this amazing world tour.  Though now in Johannesburg, and excited about what is in store tomorrow, we all feel like we’ve been hit by a massive SE Asian typhoon and are very much missing Asia!  Can you believe it?  Three nights and 19,000+ new friends who are now on this massive and growing wave that God is raising up all around the globe!  What a ride!

Manila, KL and Jakarta…we love you so much and feel like in a really short period of time God somehow merged our hearts beautifully into one.  The way you have prayed and given for each other speaks of a thread being woven through every nation and people, a thread that’s telling a story so much bigger than our own.  And Jakarta, you have blown us away with your blog-mania!  900+ comments!?!? Are you kidding?  But more than the number (Manila and KL, you rocked as well), it’s the stories that move us most…stories of God’s grace and a night that was Spirit-powered and all about the powerful simplicity of the cross where life began.

And speaking of typhoons, as we were leaving Jakarta Wednesday one shut down the Hong Kong airport (our intended layover on the way to JoBurg) giving us a nice long day at the Jakarta airport before a late-night flight to Singapore, and for many Dubai, before we arrived over 24 hours later to sunny SA winter.  JoBurg, there are thousands of Indonesians praying for you right now (see the 900+ posts mentioned above!) and we are expecting great things tomorrow.  For those of you around the world, JoBurg is an all day event starting at 10 AM local time.  And for you folks who are going to “pitch up” tomorrow, remember to bring a blanket for our Do Something Now campaign!  And to everyone following the Passion World Tour, we love you and couldn’t have done any of this without you!

    The idea of having a chain of support among the nations is incredible. You have started to unite the young people from different nations. Thank you, thank you, Ptr. Louie and the rest of the team for letting the Lord use you. Pls. do come back and see the fruits of your labor. We are all with you. We are one with you: one in purpose, one in prayer.     “I am the LORD, that is My name;
I will not give My glory to another,
Nor My praise to graven images.”
    (Isaiah 42:8)

He has definitely not given his glory and praise away. The encore just keeps on going! Can we get Jesus’ encore into the Guinness Book of World records? He’s definitely holding the record after almost a couple thousand years.

  4. Alec Says:

Praise be to God, to Him and Him alone.

  6. Jezreel (Philippines) Says:

As you guys would often say, WOW. WOW. WOW!
We are not competing for the most comments (haha), but these huge number of responses are manifestations (in a way) of how many young people are really reached by the Lord though your great your ministry and vision.
We also are blessed to have met you, Passion team. Lives have been changed. Souls have been surrendered to the Lord. Christian lives have been stronger and more passionate than ever! This is not all hype, but is the movement of the Lord (through your passion, Passion team).

We will continue praying for the res of your world tour’s second leg.
In fact, a lot of young people from the Philippine still have their neon-colored wrist-straps on! Haha. (Okay, that’s totally a fruitcake. ahaha)

p.s. One day the nations will come together and bow before JEsus!

The olympics are scuh an example of all cultures coming together for a common goal. Let’s not forget our brother & sisters in China and pray !!

  46. Sandra R. Says:

Tonight (here in Texas), I was watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. (I admit I was oohing and aahhing the technological production genius of it all!)
My heart was so overwhelmed seeing the nations literally gathered in one place… The commentators kept talking about what a beautiful tapestry of colorful uniforms and people were on the field - it was way too much for my heart to contain to think of it from an eternal perspective!
All of these countries walking in the parade of nations - Malaysia, Ukraine, Uganda, Indonesia, Philippines, USA, France, Great Britain… (not listing all of them, but hopefully you get where I’m going with this!)…

The moment that caught me off guard was when Yao Ming (Houston Rockets basketball player) came into the stadium carrying China’s flag. Accompanying him was a 9 year old boy who is a survivor of the earthquake that happened a couple months ago. Twenty out of thirty of his classmates were killed. He somehow managed to free himself from the rubble and went back to rescue a couple of his classmates… When they asked him why he went back to help them, he said it was because he was assigned as the hall monitor and it was his responsibility…
When China was marching into the stadium, I was so burdened because of it’s dark, spiritual climate, but then I was also excited with the hope of all that God is doing there now and believing that this generation is making a difference… Think of it - by the time this 9 year old boy grows a little older, he and so many others in the darkest places of the world will know the name of JESUS!

It’s just such an AMAZING TIME to see all that God is doing in and through this generation of students! His Ancient Work is coming to LIGHT!

Love so amazing, Love so amazing…

Praying with you all and for you all…

  47. juju Says:

As I was praying, I had to share…praying from Psalm 110 and onwards…until I make Thine enemies a footstool for Thy feet. They people will volunteer freely in the day of My power; in holy array, from the WOMB OF THE DAWN MY YOUTH are to ME AS THE DEW. The Lord has worn and will not change His mind….He will shatter kings…HE WILL JUDGE AMONG THE NATIONS…He will shatter the chief men over a broad country…therefore He will lift up His heaqd…Praise the LORD! in the ocmpany of the upright and in the assembly…great are the works of the LORD…He remembers His covenant forever…HE HAS MADE KNOWN TO HIS PEOPLE THE POWER OF HIS WORKS, IN GIVING THEM THE HERITAGE OF THE NATIONS…He has sent redemption to His people…HOLY & AWESOME IS HIS NAME.” Psalms 110 & 111 (in parts) Sounds like the LORD wants to shatter the “principalities, powers, ruling spirits of darkness and wickedness in high places” in SA, in Johannesburg…you know the strongholds of that city…break and shatter them LORD and bring redemption!! ~~ marye (again), atlanta, ga

What happened after Passion: Cape Town

On the 13th of August, 6000 students stood in the Bellville velodrome in Cape Town and proclaimed that “Greater things are yet to come for this city”. One month later, 12-13 September an estimated 10 000 – 15 000 Capetonians made a first-time commitment to Jesus Christ at an event held at Newlands Cricket stadium.

A South-African evangelist and farmer, Angus Buchan, came to speak at the stadium this past weekend. A movie was made about his book “Faith like Potatoes”, drawing crowds from all parts of the country to hear the gospel. (60 000 people attended, roughly 30 000 per evening.) As an evangelist, he inspires them to commit their lives to Christ.

GOD IS GREAT and He planned all of this. Thank you Passion for being obedient to God by coming to Cape Town this year and be part of what He is doing in our country.
