to the first person who posted…you don’t have to have an ipod to get itunes. you can just download itunes and then those files are on your comp, and then you can put them on your mp3 player…whatever it is. (im pretty sure)

  4. Anonymous Says:

Yeah..you don’t need ANY kind of mp3 player. You burn them to a cd and play them in your car…stereo…computer…whatever…no ipod or mp3 necessary…

Today was the final death of my Passion 06 bracelet…after weeks of care and duct tape, it’s falling into pieces and I finally took it off.

    :(

But purple is still best :) and hey, only eight months or so until I get a new one!!

To the 3rd and 4th person who posted, that is cool that you don’t need an mp3 player or itunes, thanks I wouldn’t have known. Wouldn’t it be wrong to burn them to a cd? In a way wouldn’t it be like stealing music or anything? I don’t know how to burn things to a cd, but I know someone who does.

    Have a great week you’ll!

  8. Anonymous Says:

thank you louie for the reminder! I just bought passion ancient and modern hymns!!

  9. Anonymous Says:

No it wouldn’t be wrong to burn things to a cd. You paid for the songs on itunes.

Now, if you go and start giving out the cd’s to people…then yeah, that could be a problem in some people’s eyes…not mine though. I say if it’s for God, and the person you’re giving it to can’t afford or doesn’t have the luxury of getting it, spread around. But if you’re doing it so someone can save some money…then for shame for shame…

  10. Anonymous Says:

So it is ok to steal as long as you need it.

  11. Anonymous Says:

Just to be clear, it’s not wrong to burn a CD for yourself if you bought the songs off iTunes.

It is wrong to make a copy for someone, whether or not one feels okay about it. That’s the law.

If it’s for God, and someone can’t afford it or doesn’t have the luxury of getting it, go to 268store.com and order one for them as a gift.

With iTunes, after your buy the song, they let you burn it onto a CD up to 7 times..so it’s not wrong, because they are giving you permission to do it! But I agree, just don’t go burning CD’s and handing them out to friends.

  13. Anonymous Says:

So after you buy the music from itunes, you can burn it to a cd up to 7 times without it being wrong.

  14. Anonymous Says:

We’ve got a lot of anonymousity surrounding burning the cd’s here. . .

I dont know if you’ve seen this, but I saw this last week on a news feed… http://today.reuters.com/news/newsarticle.aspx?type=scienceNews&storyid=2006-03-15T201027Z_01_N15266427_RTRUKOC_0_US-SPACE-HELIX.xml

If the link doesn’t work you can google double helix nebula and find it. Just another way God shows us that HE is in control.

p.s. thanks for the sale on iTMS.

Actually iTunes will let you burn as many CDs as you want. (go to Apple’s iTunes website if you want to verify this).

It’s what you do with it afterwards that makes the difference.

When you buy a CD or song, you are also puchasing a particular license for it…one that does not allow you to make free copies for people, regardless of whether or not they can afford it or how much of it is “God’s music anyway.”

    Friends,

I think what we need to remember is that the artists own the copyright to the music they write and record for our worship/listening pleasure. When we illegally copy their music for others who have not purchased it, it is the same as reaching into Chris Tomlin’s pocket (or Matt Redman, or Charlie Hall, or David Crowder, etc.) and taking their money.

For those who don’t have the patience to read through the lengthy iTunes license agreement, here is the part that is relevant to this discussion:

“You shall be entitled to export, burn (if applicable) or copy Products solely for personal, noncommercial use. You shall not be entitled to burn Video Products. You shall be authorized to burn an audio playlist up to seven times.”

The operative wording is “soley for personal use.”

  18. Anonymous Says:

So then you would buy the music, and copy it to a cd for yourself and not for other people. That sounds fair, because then we wouldn’t hurt the artists that we love.

  19. Anonymous Says:

    Exactly

  20. Anonymous Says:

    Now You’ve Got It!

  21. spreading passion in Canada Says:

wow it is amazing how this turned into a legal debate, and therefore very different from the other comment strings on the other blogs.

    Or We Win!

    Or Any song!

  26. hidude23 Says:

Louie, I got a question for you:

If we preorder the cd, will we get it the day it’s released? Or will we get it sometime after? I would like to preorder it, but if there’s a chance I wont get it on the 4th, then I just want to go pay whatever the cost is at the Christian book store.
