Hello Mr. Giglio,
I was fortunate enough to attend one session at this year's HIM conference and it just happened to be your general session appearance.
Thank you for traveling to our small island in the middle of the Pacific and helping us understand how BIG God is and His love for us.
Oh... and sorry about all the rain. I guess even Hawaii can have bad weather.

Louie - Thanks for explaining what you meant. I wasn't there, but you make sense now. I think blogging can be fun, it helps you let others know what you are thinking. If you are doing it for God that is great. I agree with you that if we are going to say that we have passion for Christ we need to show it and if we are going to claim to be christians we should live it. There are so many who say they are christians but don't live it. Other people who say they are christians actually live it and you can see great results.
I've never seen Lost either, but might be a good movie.

Aloha to all! What does Mahalo mean?

i don't usually jump in here, but just in case there are others reading i can save you some time....i did not say that mayspace/facebook/xanga sites were bad at all....somehow me and ronald didn't connect here. so don't waste too much time debating. happy myspacing. happy xangaing. happy blogging. i am on blogger.com, no doubt. :)

point was that a certain circle of "christian student/some passion-goers" myspace sites i found myself in recently were filled with evertything but what looked like the face of Jesus and i was commenting on how it's easy for me (first) and all of us (second) to be in this passion worship movement and not be transformed by the renewing of our minds into the image of His Son.

one of the marks of authentic worship = changed lives. no change = no worship.

passion can gather tons of people, but without us being changed by the character and holiness of God, the world is not going to see the awakening we talk about.

sorry ronald if i didn't bring the point home, but myspace with all you've got.

btw...on the "lost" comment i probably shouldn't have taken on lost on oahu! (i have nothing for or against the show having never seen it, can't get sucked in)....but as for redeeming culture...i'm all for it. love culture and redeeming it.

but it's sad that often the church can't come up with any good ideas of it's own and we have to wait for the next big cultural hit to know what our camp theme will be. every now and then we need to lead and not follow. there is something to be said for getting a creative idea from the Creator of the Universe, no.

funnier still, i mentioned off the top of my head (not such a good plan) the new camp shirt which will say lost on the front and found on the back. turns out, my new hs friends in the breakout just did that shirt a few weeks ago. so there you go, redeeming culture is underway.

they were nice enough to forgive my comment and we had some nice laughs and hugs after.

aloha and mahalo.

Ronald, I agree with you that there shouldn't be that much wrong with having myspace.com websites. I think that it may depend on what you use it for. If you use it to post about God and the true things of God I think it is great. But if you are using it for other reasons to post things other than God, it may not be so good. I think it depends on what you use it for. I don't know maybe Louie has other reasons for it being bad.
The conference in Hawaii sounds awesome, we are praying for all to go well and that God will move in and within that place!

Louie--
I saw you in person this evening live at the Honolulu HIM conference. I appreciate what you are saying about Worship. I wasn't quite sure what your point was about the myspace.com stuff, since you seem to be technology savvy, like having your own blog, etc. That Christians are posting their own pages on myspace.com would seem to me be a good thing. Kids nowadays are less connected to real people and more connected to virtual friendships. Even Pastor Alex McManus is experimenting with this new media/web connectivity (something called voxtropolis.com) If these networking Christians are leaving their mark on myspace, they are being witnesses to Christ and his kingdom, and become contact points for others there. Regarding your comments on 'Lost': what is the big deal about taking things of the culture and turning them into something about Christ (a la Mars Hill "to an unknown God"). Lost, The Matrix, American Idol, just about anything used in a secular setting can be redeemed and used for Christ's purposes. Even the early songs of the Salvation Army were created by putting new lyrics to the tunes of old bar / pub / taveran / drinking songs. Martin Luther turned Christianity on it's ear by validating the priesthood of the laity, where everyone, no matter their profession is a priest unto God. This is akin to redeeming the culture for Christ. If we say that the priesthood of believers is nullified, then it would apply to not just a profession but also the trappings of one's culture. I don't think you really meant to say that.
I really didn't miss your points about Worship. I just didn't get how you could see Christian web pages on myspace and not see how that could expand the Kingdom of God. Blessings! --ronald

Louie - Yes as I venture north into snowy terrirory, I will try to think of you all in a warm tropical way. hmmm pray.... Giglios... CTB.... Hawaii.... psalms I mean palm trees... sand..... surf...... sun...well, I think I can manage if I close my eyes really tight and think 'warm tropical thoughts'.. ;)
Actually I'll be praying for the Lord to draw each one there with a hunger and thirst for Him; no distractions; that they have ears to hear and roots that are grown deep in Him. That He is present in a very tangible way throughout and will accomplish as He wills in all people present!
Blessings to you!
Kim :)

Louie, wonder if it wrong to covet someone else's job just for a weekend!!!
We pray for the Passion House team, the musos and all the college students that you impact, on a daily basis so praying today for you and the others in Hawaii will be no exception.
You are about three quarters of the way to Melbourne, so you are getting closer!!! Maybe there is hope that you will go the extra distance some time in the not too distant future. It is 90 degrees here today so thats not hard to take either!!!
