South Bend, Indiana and the Fighting Irish
The Indescribable Tour is still in the great Midwest (well, upper Midwest) tonight, hanging out for the day in lovely and freezing South Bend, Indiana. In case you missed it, SB is home to Notre Dame University, a collegiate icon in America (and the world) and possibly the most renowned Catholic University on the planet. So, obviously, I’ve had the 10,000+ students of ND on my mind all day, especially after seeing the golden dome, the spire of the Basilica and “Touchdown Jesus” again. It’s a beautiful campus with a huge history.
But in these parts, The Indescribable Tour often draws more of a Christian radio crowd than the collegiate set, so I wasn’t thinking too many students would be with us tonight. But then I met Kellie/Kelly/Kellee/Kelley/Kelli (sorry, I didn’t ask you how you spell your name) and her two friends in the lobby after. K (we’ll shorten so I don’t misspell it over and over!) asked if we (I think she meant Passion) would pray for Notre Dame. Before I could say anything she said, “I was at Passion 06. Remember when all the campuses represented scrolled by? [For those who weren't there, we showed a list of the over 1000 campuses represented at Passion 06 in the last session as we sang "How Great Is Our God" over them.] Well, I came to Nashville without a ticket and barely got in, so my school wasn’t on my registration and Notre Dame didn’t show up when all our schools were listed in alphabetical order. But I was there. Notre Dame was there. Will you remember to pray for our school, too?”
Well, my heart is in my throat while I’m typing this, so I think you know I told her WE WOULD DEFINITELY PRAY FOR HER AND NOTRE DAME!!! In fact, the four us us linked arms and prayed right there in the lobby, me asking that the light of Jesus would burn brightly in their hearts and spread throughout the campus.
So, I wonder who out there will join me in lifting up K and her friends at ND? It would be massively encouraging if lots of you would drop a quick post on the Blog saying “I’m with you K, and praying for ND.”
Notre Dame may be a zillion miles away from you, but how cool would it be if God was glorified through a major spiritual outbreak at this bastion of religious life… and the anthem of the living Savior of the world rang out with salvation and hope from beneath the golden dome? I know that’s happening in a few hearts tonight, and K and friends, we are so with you!

I am with you K, and I will most definently be praying for ND. I remember my campus being recognized on the screen at Passion by 3 or 4 different versions of the name, which is such a blessing. There was even a girl in my community group who lives 2 floors down from me. I will be praying that the Lord will come in a huge way to your campus.

Kelly… That is a cry of my heart for my campus too. In my fam group in the Purple community group, there was a girl named Kelly , and she also went to Notre Dame, so I’m guessing either you’re her, or someone else. If it was you, girl, I have been praying so hard and so much for you. I’m your sister in Christ, and you have a strong prayer network going for ya, since I’m pretty sure our other “brothers and sisters” are praying for you as much as I am. You are an awesome woman of God, and I know that God’s going to use your heart to impact the campus. And if you’re a different Kelly, then please know that you’re not alone on your campus, that you have someone close to home and far away (from the post from Australia) with the same heart you do. I’m with ya K, praying for ND, for laborers for the fields, for a passion for God to ignite on the campus, and for Him to be glorified at ND. To K and all at Notre Dame…
I was on your campus for a week in 1987, and have never forgotten the experience. God spoke to me in a huge way while I was there, and I pray He will do the same in the lives of ND students today.
The way I figure it, there are probably some students on your campus right now that were born during that week in 1987 when God birthed something significant in my heart. I am going to pray specifically for those students. That they would be Christ’s salt and light on the Notre Dame campus. That they would seek more of Him and less of themselves. That they would be sustained by glimpses of God in their daily walk. And that their lives would testify about the love and grace of the Father who is mighty to save.
God is there in the midst of your campus! He longs to draw many to himself for the first time, and to awaken something big in the hearts of students! I know, because that’s what He did for me 19 years ago.

What another amazing way God is working throughout this country to use this generation to bring Christ to the world. We will be praying for K and ND!
I was at the Omaha show (part of the Passion representation doing the clap!) – and really felt the hunger that the people had for God through the worship that night!
I also felt God pressing on my heart to pray that His light would shine here in the mid-west! Too often people think that everyone is “pure” and “simple” and sold-out believers here – but that is far from the truth. While there is “life” here, sooo many more need to know and experience and come to have a relationship with Jesus – in all the high schools, colleges, and beyond!
May God’s love be spread to the corners of the earth – but may it also be rooted deeply in the heart of this country as well (in Iowa esp. since that is where I am from, and MN, NE, IL, WI, MO, SD, ND, IN, MI, and beyond!).
Louie (and Matt and Chris and all of Passion) – thank you for letting God use you in amazing ways – may God continue to get all the glory – YA Glorious!

He does not despise those he disciplines and grows, but hears them in their need. Shine your face in South Bend. Smile upon your people with your great love, let even those who do not yet know you feel it. Strengthen the believers to endure, even scorn and shame, for Your name’s sake.

I’m Owen, 16 from the UK and i just want to say a MASSIVE THANKYOU to all at passion and the 268 team. i have never been able to attend a passion conference, a sixsteps tour or any 268 event (due to being thousands of miles away!) but i have been sooooo blessed by the work of passion and 268. My niece goes to college in Cambridge, MA (not Harvard, but next door to it) and she is also a “K” (you have started a phrase here) a minority of people (s) on a campus that want to share Christ with those oh so many who need to hear…so to you, the origional “K” and to you thousnads and thousnds of “K’s” on all of the campus’, all over the world, yes, oh yes, you are all in my prayers….keep up the God work!!! I also wanted to say, that I sadly didn’t see my university scroll by on the list of over 1000 campuses either! I was the only one from the University of Western Ontario (Canada) there at Passion06.
I’m glad to say that God has continued to work powerfully on campus. In fact, tonight, Campus for Christ had their large campus-wide outreach event called “Is Anything Free?” where we hoped to share God’s everlasting unconditional love and gift of grace and salvation! Please continue to pray for those who came out to the event as we follow-up with them, for those who couldn’t make it but wanted to come, and for our campus in general.
There’s still a huge number of people that have not heard of Christ. We also have another outreach event this weekend, Through the Roof (www.throughtheroof.ca), pray that more will hear the Good News and those who are curious/searching/lost will come running home to their Father.
It’s great to see such a great army of believers with such a fervour for Christ. Recall from the 268 Declaration:
3) Because God is glorified greatly when believers love each other, I desire to magnify Him as I humbly yield to and pray towards unity among all Christians on my campus.
4)Because many on my campus are hopelessly separated from God, I desire to magnify Him by sharing the life and love of Jesus where I live. As I share, I will earnestly pray for revival on my campus and in my world.

as Christians that are very much excited about what God is doing on college campus…it seems God is doing something new and amazing at Asbury College again. (the site of a revival in 1970) Check out http://www.asbury.edu for the story on how chapel continues for a 3rd straight day.

the meaning of the word is overly lavished and unrestrained.
God,Lavishes His love on His children,and His love is unrestained.
Our love should we lavish on Him,
with out restraints!!! totally surrenderd!!!

I’m a domer myself (grad student), and was at Passion 05 (and 06 in spirit). I also was blessed to be able to worship with the crowds downtown for the “concert” the other night. Kelly (and friends), my friend Leann and I would love to meet you as we share a common heart and a common university.
Praise the Lord for all the prayers for ND, and for using Louie and Kelly to raise the banner! There is such tremendous opportunity for God to be glorified here, but so often it feels weighed down by religion. Jesus, may your fame wash over this place. Forgive us for being flippant with you. Forgive us for watering down your truth. Ignite in us a passion for your glory, and loose it among us at Notre Dame!

I’m with you Kelly, David, Ty, Redford, and Liz. Praying for the spark to go forth from you all and set ND ablaze. Christ is all we need. I am so glad we are a part of this family of faith that stretches around the globe and we can lift each other up in prayer. God is good!!
